Work Package 5 has three primary objectives:
- To advance our understanding of predictability mechanisms by analysing extensive databases for weather to seasonal prediction as well as climate projection
- To provide strong contributions to the next generation of weather and climate prediction systems via enhanced exploitation of Arctic observations, improved weather and climate models and advanced understanding of linkages between the Arctic and the mid-latitudes
- To assess the added-value of APPLICATE developments in terms of weather and climate predictions
Work package 5 is led by Pablo Ortega Montilla from the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) and Morten Andreas Køltzow from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.
